With the introduction of the iPhone in 2007, everything changed for web designers and developers. With users able to view websites on their smartphones, the content needed to be usable, readable and functional on smaller screen sizes.
The term “responsive design” was coined in 2010 by Ethan Marcotte and new coding practices were developed to provide readable content for all screen sizes. Now, most modern websites are being built to adapt to a multitude of devices.
Responsive design is making websites more accessible, informative and beautiful.
